With twenty years of experience building internet software as an engineering and product leader, Alex aims to connect users to value through software at large scale. Alex is passionate about simplicity in software, data driven product management, consumer technology, mobile apps, and transactional businesses.
As CTO at Civitas Learning, Alex led a cross functional product development organization (product, ux, engineering, data science) to bring several products to market for the student success machine learning pioneer. Prior to Civitas, Alex led the mobile apps product, design, and engineering group at HomeAway and was responsible for global platform engineering from the early days of the startup through the over $3B IPO and later sale to Expedia.
Earlier in his career, Alex held various engineering leadership positions both as an independent contractor and with Trilogy. He delivered software for Gartner Group, Ford, Goodyear, IBM, and Nissan USA. He also developed and managed the technology training for Trilogy University 2000. Alex holds a BS and Masters in Information Systems from Carnegie Mellon University.
