As Director of the Beneplace Network I am tasked with bringing an idea to reality. The Beneplace Network is a new platform to offer voluntary benefits at a savings to active employees and retirees who are enduring a separation of employment. As Director, I am responsible for all operations of the business unit, including creating the business plan, identifying the growth strategy, managing P&L and addressing the need to hire and train additional staff as the initiative grows.
Prior to my joining Beneplace, I ran a highly profitable SaaS software business for 4 years (45% EBITDA) and did so by listening to the needs of our customers and effectively managing expenses . I surrounded myself with five strong managers who helped create a three-year business strategy and then crafted quarterly goals based on the individual skills of each department.
Prior to managing Travis Software, for several years I worked in big law as an ERISA/benefits attorney and was privileged to work with clients like Dell and Dynegy to create employee benefit plans, such as health and welfare plans as well as individual executive compensation arrangements.
Using my legal background, my approach to business decisions is somewhat unique . Law school does not necessarily prepare you for business, but my entrepreneurial family engrained the skillset needed to succeed in small business; always keep an eye on the cash and surround yourself with smart people.
