As Global Advertising Director for Nike, Zeitz led the creative team for the award-winning, iconic “Just Do It” “Bo Knows” and “Spike and Mike” campaigns. During this time Nike became the world’s dominant sports brand, increasing sales from $1B to $15B.
After 12 years at Nike, Zeitz was appointed VP/Marketing for Nike’s newly-acquired Cole Haan brand. Over 8 years, Zeitz developed the business from a men’s footwear label to a dual-gender fashion lifestyle brand, more than doubling Cole Haan’s revenue and net profit, with significant market share increases.
In 2008, Zeitz co-founded ZAC LLC, a brand strategy, advertising, and design firm based in Portland, Maine. Under Zeitz’ direction, his primary client Sperry Top-Sider evolved from a one-season boat shoe company to a four-season dual-gender lifestyle brand. During the five-year partnership, Sperry increased revenue from $120MM to $500MM, doubled market share and opened 25 branded retail stores.
Now heading the Austin-based firm WAZ + co., Zeitz brings this experience to consumer-facing startups looking to be positioned for growth – whether by repositioning brands, expanding product categories, entering new international markets or wherever the opportunity indicates.
Raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, Zeitz is a cum laude graduate of SMU, where he also studied art history and international business at Instituto de Cultura Hispanica in Madrid, Spain. He is a member of the National Advisory Council for Maine College of Art; the Board of Directors for the Institute of Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts (Portland, Maine), and the Ben Hogan Foundation (Fort Worth). An avid fan of music, sports and fashion, Zeitz is right at home in Austin with his two sons Gavin and Peter and his dog Zoe.
