Austin on Rails Meetup with Makersquare
Tuesday 7/22- The midsummer heat is crushing and yet we roll on. We gather, we learn, we share. This month, we’ll be hearing a nice variety of topics from some of the folks at MakerSquare as well as a guest from California, Scott Feinberg, talking about how to keep your app running in the event of a zombie apocalypse! Your Rails Conductor for this month is Damon Clinkscales. Learn More
Wednesday 7/23- We’re also excited to introduce a new series that will recur over the next several months called “Web App by Example”. The premise will be to take the exact same application spec and build idiomatic implementations in several different server frameworks. This should provide an easy way for people to compare and contrast popular framework patterns, comparing apples to apples as closely as possible. Think of it as TodoMVC for the server side, covering things like server-side templating, routing, data access, REST API support, unit testing and more. Learn more
Thursday 7/24- Join GDI for a brief presentation on “Domains: Where do they come from? How do I get one? And other common questions” followed by a chance to meet, greet and share stories with fellow community members. Snacks & Refreshments provided. Thank you to our Sponsor Capital Factory for the space! And Spanning Cloud Apps for the snacks! Learn More
Austin Web Python User Group Meetup
Mark your calendars for the another exciting installment of AWPUG this Thursday. This month Josh Marshall will be talking all about webRTC. WebRTC is an emerging standard that allows peer to peer communication via the browser (video, audio, and data). Josh will overview the basics of WebRTC: how it works, how people are using it, and how you too can leverage the power of other people’s computers. Learn More
It’s time for the Austin Redis Meetup Group to get up-and-running again – on April 24th, Bill Anderson will present “The Zen of Redis” – how to think about using Redis in your application stack and how this is different from a MySQL or relational DB mindset.
We’ll also have community time to share thoughts and ideas about using Redis, as well as time to network over food and a couple of beers. Learn more
