We expect everyone in our space to abide by this Code of Conduct. This includes event attendees, coworking members, community organizers, mentors, investors, guests and staff. Violation of this Code of Conduct could result in being removed from the Capital Factory community and no longer having access to the associated benefits.
If you witness a violation of our Code of Conduct, please notify a staff member or report it here.
We Welcome Everyone
This is our house, our family. Come hang out with us and help us make awesome futures for all humans. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind, especially on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, gender identity or citizenship status. We are committed to creating a non-hostile coworking and event space for all.
We Treat Others With Respect
We are all humans here. Recognize and respect your fellows, regardless of race, religion, age, disability, gender, sexuality, or socioeconomic status. Respect and allow everyone to express their opinions, concerns, and needs. Listen with the intention to understand.
We Do Not Tolerate Harassment
We do not tolerate harassment of any kind. Unwanted texting, calling, emailing, following, stalking, badgering, intimidating, threatening or otherwise making oneself impossible to disengage from will result in being removed from the Capital Factory community.
Harassment also includes sexual harassment in any form such as teasing, jokes, innuendo, images, gestures, touching, grabbing or giving gifts of a sexual or unwanted nature.
If someone tries to move on from the conversation, let them go– in person AND online. If someone explicitly tells you to leave them alone, then leave them alone. If you are unsure if your behavior is inappropriate, don’t do it. Always err on the side of making a comfortable environment based on the other person’s standards, not your own.
We Embrace a Culture of Consent
If you are planning on touching someone, taking something, being in another person’s space, or otherwise imposing yourself on another human being, ask them first.
We are Professional
Capital Factory is a community of entrepreneurs, startups, mentors, investors, and community organizers. This is a professional environment and should be treated as such. This is not your dating service. This is not your beer pong table. This is not a sub-par bar with a disappointing live music line-up. This is a professional environment. These are your peers. So treat them like peers. Be courteous, kind, and respectful at all times.
We Encourage Diversity
Capital Factory is committed to building a diverse and inclusive startup community and believe doing so will lead to better companies with better outcomes.
We Pay It Forward
Being part of our community means helping each other out without expectation of anything in return. Help out other members of the community by making introductions, sharing your experience, or just listening.
We Clean Up After Ourselves
Please pick up after yourself. Treat communal spaces with respect. If you move something, put it back. If you use the dishes, put them in the dishwasher. Leave the space as you found it or better.
We Do Not Gossip
Don’t share disparaging comments or rumors about each other. Respect the privacy of everyone in our community.
We Do Not Steal
Don’t take other people’s physical property. Don’t take other people’s intellectual property (but please do contribute to open source).
We Abide By The Law
Do not participate in any illegal activities. This includes the use of illegal drugs, illegal hacking and anything that would put our community in jeopardy.
We Know Our Limits
We expect members of our community to drink responsibly in our space. Alcohol available in the kitchen is for members over 21 years in age. This is for having a beer after a long day of work, not for getting drunk.
Any alcohol at public events must be served by TABC certified bartenders.
You’re an adult, we expect you to know your limits like one. Remember, this is a professional environment.
We Do Not Permit Weapons
Firearms or weapons of any kind are not allowed in our space.
We Do Not Smoke
Smoking, vaping or chewing is not allowed in our space.
Do not take photos of anyone in our space
As already stated, consent is mandatory. Take all the wide-shot photos of our events that you want, and pictures of the sponsors and organizers during announcements is allowed. But, don’t take pictures of individuals without their knowledge and consent.
We Report Bad or Suspicious Behavior
See something or someone suspicious? Did you see someone violate this Code of Conduct? Always feel empowered to say something and please escalate any concerns immediately to someone on the staff or leadership team. Visit the front desk, email help@capitalfactory.com or call building security at 512-320-5990.
You are encouraged stand up for each other. If you feel safe doing so, intervene when witnessing wrongdoing or violations of this Code of Conduct. But, by all means, you can always report the issue to a staff member or building security as your first step.
We Take This Seriously
Violation of the Code of Conduct could mean being removed from the Capital Factory community as an event attendee, coworking member, community organizer, mentor, investor, guest or staff.
If you witness a violation of our Code of Conduct, please notify a staff member or report it here.
And finally, if you have any questions on any of the above, please come talk to us.
Love,
The Capital Factory Community
