If you haven’t already heard we’re bringing NewCo Festivals to Austin on May 29th! This is your chance to connect with companies in Austin making a difference and driving innovation within our city limits. In case you haven’t noticed, Austin is at the top of every list and is inevitably becoming the go-to city for entrepreneurship. Learn from the pro’s and attend these 10 sessions that cover everything from bootstrapping, transforming transportation, moving an entire business to Austin, real estate technology and much more.

What is NewCo?
NewCo is a new kind of event experience: a mashup of an open studio tour and a business conference, with the vibe of a music festival. Register to attend sessions given by local companies and organizations. You get to pick which sessions you would like to see and which company/organization you’d like to visit in their native environment.

Why should you attend?
80+ of Austin’s awesome and innovative companies are ready to tell you how they’re making an impact both globally and locally.  These companies will open their doors for one-hour experiential sessions led by local founders and entrepreneurs. Get ready for behind-the-scene tours of cutting-edge work environments and founders candidly sharing insights from their journey.

Session:Atlas Wearables: Behind the Workout

Session: Surviving an acquisition without selling your soul.

Speaker: VP/GM; CEO pre-acquisition, Jeff Erramouspe

Jeff Erramouspe, CEO of Spanning, will share his experiences on building the company, managing their acquisition by a tech giant, and driving the integration process to keep the company intact while taking advantage of the leverage offered by the acquirer. The session will include true stories of managing the expectations of VCs, founders, and the acquiring company and the things to look out for if you’ve reached the level of success that results in acquisition offers. Questions will be welcomed and encouraged.

Session: How to use crowdfunding to create your roadmap

Speaker: CEO, Erik Dahlman

Albino Dragon founder Erik Dahlman has raised more than $1M over the course of fourteen projects on Kickstarter. Erik’s NewCo session will cover the dos and don’ts of a successful crowdfunding campaign including pre-project preparation, how to avoid the dreaded ‘dead zone’, and best practices for keeping your audience engaged. Erik will also share how he has managed and fulfilled rewards for 10,000+ backers after the project has ended and how an overly successful campaign can potentially cripple your company.

Former CNN producer Josh Rubin spent more than a decade covering everything from presidential elections to breaking news. He moved to Austin in 2010 and quickly fell in love with the city’s startup scene. He recently left CNN to join the Daily Dot, an Austin based media company. Now Josh is trying to combine his love of startup culture with his love of media by partnering with Capital Factory to create a place where media can learn about innovation and startups can learn about media.
