HOFT Institute Presents: Game Development Program
Come find out about the Game Design & Development Lab at HOFT Institute!
HOFT Institute, an Austin institution for more than 30 years, plans to unveil an inaugural vocational education program, for video game design and development, with the aim of providing necessary experience and applied learning that will lead to job placement — to begin in January 2018!
This event will take place in the Classroom at the Capital Factory, on the south side of the Austin Center building, opposite the Omni Hotel and on the 16th floor. Food and drink will be offered, for free!
HOFT Institute will also present a talk by chip Sbrogna, currently the lead designer at OtherSide Entertainment, who will discuss several of the puzzles he created for Rise of the Tomb Raider. Using these puzzles as examples, he will provide insight into how the concept of a puzzle becomes a functional reality. This talk is open to all students, industry veterans, and fans who are interested in understanding the design and creative process in the context of “AAA” game development.
chip has been contributing his design talents to FPS and action-adventure games for 19 years. His career includes key contributions to award-winning games such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, Portal 2, and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, as well as franchises such as God of War, Metroid Prime, Star Wars, and Counter-Strike. Titles in his portfolio have won many awards and accolades.
Parking in the Austin Center/Omni underground garage will be available for $5 with validation at the Capital Factory’s main desk. Presentations by HOFT Institute staff will be made, and questions about the program will be answered.
