Summer Startup Pitch and VC Panel: Turn Your Dreams Into Reality
Mix and mingle with the most promising early-stage startups in Texas.
Five companies submit applications to win a chance to pitch in front of five venture capitalists. Each entrepreneur will have 7 minutes to pitch followed by 7 minutes to answer Q&A from our VC panelists. It’s as simple as that. Each ticket holder receives 1 drink/specialty cocktail and appetizers.
Applications will be accepted from now until Thursday, July 26th. Startups can apply by following this link.
The 5 startups that are chosen for the pitch competition will be notified on Friday, August 3rd.
The 5 startups that are chosen should be prepared to join a practice session at Capital Factory, in addition to the competition itself at Native Hostel (8/9 from 7:30-9pm).

Gordon Daugherty, Chief Strategy Officer at Capital Factory
Over the past 15 years, Gordon has seen more than 1,500 startup pitches, given personal advice to more than 500 entrepreneurs and been involved with raising over $45M in growth and venture capital. He spent the first ten years of his career in brand name companies like IBM and Compaq and then progressively gravitated towards early-stage and high growth companies. He spent eight years in the video conferencing industry, including four years as President of an Israeli-based company that grew from $5M to $36M in a short few years and went public on the Euronext stock market.
Through his advisory practice called Shockwave Innovations and as the Chief Strategy Officer for Austin’s Capital Factory startup accelerator, Gordon is an active angel investor, VC and startup advisor. He is also a Managing Director at SoftMatch and a board member for Austin-based technology companies SwimTopia, Riskpulse, Chiron Health, and StoryFit.

Morgan Flager – General Partner, Silverton Partners
Morgan joined Silverton in 2006. He currently serves on the boards of Aceable, Alert Media, Convey, Outbound Engine, Trendkite, The Zebra, Turnkey Vacation Rentals, and 360pi. Morgan also led Silverton’s efforts on BlackLocus (acquired by Home Depot), Crimson Services (acquired by The Advisory Board) and UnboundID (acquired by Vista Equity). Prior to Silverton, Morgan worked with FTV Capital in San Francisco, where he focused on growth investments in technology and financial services.

Krishna Srinivasan – Co-Founder, LiveOak Venture Partners
Krishna is a co-founder of LiveOak Venture Partners and has been investing in early stage Texas based companies and entrepreneurs since 2000.
Prior to founding LiveOak, Krishna was a Partner at Austin Ventures, and Before joining Austin Ventures, Krishna was with Motorola where he wrote large scale optimization software for supply chain planning and worked with a variety of business units on strategic and operational issues. He started his professional career at SEMATECH.
Krishna received his MBA from Wharton where he graduated with highest academic honors as a Palmer Scholar. He also has an MS in Operations Research from the University of Texas at Austin, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, where he graduated with the highest all-round honors.
Krishna currently sits on the Board of Directors for: CS Disco, Digital Pharmacist, Hive9, OJO Labs, Opcity, Razberi Technologies and Telestax. His past investments include Augmentix (Acquired by Entorian), BlackSand Technologies (Acquired by Qualcomm), Mavenir Systems (NYSE: MVNR), Spatial Wireless (acquired by Alcatel-Lucent) and StackEngine (acquired by Oracle).
Rajiv Bala – Principal, S3 Ventures
Rajiv Bala is a Principal at S3 Ventures. His responsibilities at S3 include deal sourcing and structuring, due diligence, partner engagement and portfolio management. Rajiv’s investment focus includes software, internet/web, telecommunications, technology-enabled services, and medical device. Rajiv was a Marketing Manager at Texas Instruments where he led marketing for Automotive Infotainment in the North American region. Prior to marketing, Rajiv was an Applications Engineer with the Digital Radio Group at Texas Instruments where he helped grow the business from zero to over a million units shipped.
Rajiv holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and a BA in Economics from Rice University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He currently sits on the board of Ascend Center for Learning and Texchange Austin.
Aasim Hasan, Partner at Moneta Ventures
Aasim is a Partner at Moneta Ventures, and its Texas Leader. Prior to joining Moneta, Aasim led the global Energy and Utilities Industry Business Unit at KPIT.
Aasim was a partner at Sparta Consulting, where he served as Executive Vice President and played a key role in growing the company to $100+ Million in five years. Aasim was Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing and member of the Executive Council at Fujitsu Consulting, a Fortune Global 500 company. Aasim started his career 23 years ago at Price Waterhouse in Management Consulting. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Aasim has been a proud resident of Austin since 1990.
